In 2007, founder and inventor of Bumpsters, Jane Wall-Budden became a first time mother to Bella and was facing many difficult dilemmas that all parents do in regards to the safety of our children.
Having been warned away from using traditional cot bumpers, she found herself in a dilemma when Bella started rolling over at 12 weeks and hurting herself on the bars of her cot. Having searched the market for cot protection and unable to find anything that was exactly what she wanted and needed for her daughter, Jane took it upon herself to design something that covered all the important elements; safety, comfort and style. “Having decided for myself that I neither wanted my daughter hurt nor wanted to use bumpers, I took it upon myself to make something that fulfilled all my requirements.”
And so Bumpsters Cot-Bar bumpers were born!
Starting as a cottage industry and hand made from her home, Jane developed her Bumpsters from an idea into a beautiful product. With increasing demand for them and another child on
the way, Jane’s problems were answered when in 2010; she won Mumpreneur of the Year competition with Prima Baby Magazine. Her prize for being most innovative Mum of the year was mentoring from a well-established nursery brand Hippychick.
Working in conjunction with Hippychick, Bumpsters were given the time and capital that was required to launch them into the nursery industry properly.
Within the first year of launch, Bumpsters were nominated for and won an array of awards for product innovation. They were snapped up by an array of large retailers including Boots, Tesco, Kiddicare and JoJo Maman Bebe.

Years on, Bumpsters still remain a consumer favourite for cot safety. With continuing product development and ideas for the future, even with copycat products now on the market, Bumpsters still remain the original and best…
